Sloe Gin Fizz

Sloe Gin is not actually gin, but a liqueur dating back to 1800s England. Fizzes are mentioned in Thomas’ Bartender’s Guide in 1887 and meant to be drank quickly in the mornings, however the first mention of a Sloe Gin Fizz doesn’t appear in written text until 1910. It was then that J.A. Grohusko listed the cocktail in his guide, Jack’s Manual.

  • 2 oz Sloe Gin
  • 0.75 oz lemon juice
  • 0.25 oz simple syrup
  • egg white (optional)
  • 3-4 oz club soda
  • Garnish: None
  • Prep: Shake without soda. Strain into a fizz glass and top with soda.
