The whiskey sour first appeared in print in 1870 in Wisconsin. This drink is one made to tame “western whiskey,” as cheap bourbon shipped west was known to be.
2 oz bourbon
1 oz lemon juice
0.75 oz simple syrup
Garnish: orange/cherry flag
Prep: Dry shake without bourbon. Dry shake with bourbon. Shake with ice and double strain over fresh ice. Garnish.
